Iranian photographer photobook as 'society's pictorial doc'

Head of Photographers' House IPC Rasoul Oliazadeh has spoken out with his views over the potency of a photobook in today's society.

Speaking to the Iran Book News Agency, he described the tomes as society's pictorial doc, which can be reviewed and used as research for generations to come.

He said: "Photo exhibition and competition, held with any quality, remains in the society's memory for a while and fades away, so an event's credit boosts when its book is released. The pictures are registered in the society's memory and the next generation can use them."

Mr Oliazadeh was speaking in relation to a project he is currently working on, in which he is trying to release a book of displayed photos and selected works which have been on show at the IPC to become part of this pictorial documentation.

Last year the IPC played host to an exhibition about the Hajj.
