Inaugural Joe Cornish summer exhibition 'bigger than anticipated'

The inaugural Joe Cornish Gallery Photography Summer Open Exhibition launches tomorrow (July 16th) showcasing a high quality range of photographs taken by an equally diverse range of photographers.

Over 200 people snapped new pictures or sent existing images from their respective photobooks to be considered for the exhibition.

Massively impressed, the judges had a tough time whittling down that number and had to settle on 78, which was a much higher number than they had originally anticipated for the show.

Even more so, such was the quality of images, the judges - Joe Cornish, Peter Hicks and Steve Gosling - decided to add a bronze category to the individual photograph commendations.

Furthermore, a small cohort of photographers who handed in collective submission of prints also amazed the judges so much that they received a special honour in the newly-created portfolio standard.

The show isn't thematic as such and includes a range of images and subject matter from landscapes to still life to natural photography.

The exhibition runs until August 27th 2011.
