Women scared to look at photobooks of themselves

Women are less likely than men to look through photobooks that contain pictures of themselves, because they hate the way they look.

A new survey from Macleans toothpaste found that after the difficulty of getting a woman to pose for a picture, half of them will refuse to look at the image because they are so critical of the way they think they look.

The biggest complaint is that they don't like their smile, with a third claiming they think that their teeth aren't as white as they should be and a quarter unhappy with the perceived wonkiness of their teeth.

Approximately 14 per cent had a particular grievance about so-called lines that made them conscious of their age.

Worryingly, the study found that even on the biggest day of their lives, where brides to be are all dolled up and looking beautiful, many still felt conscious of being the photographer's very obvious centre of attention.

That said, when they actually get to looking at pictures of themselves in photobooks, they're often surprised at how normal they actually look and are pleasantly surprised.
