Zara Philips marries Mike Tindall

It has definitely been a year for the royal family memory books with two big weddings signalling the rise of the next generation of royals.

First of all it was Will and Kate, whose wedding was a very lavish and stately one, watched by millions of people all around the world and attended by political heavyweights.

And most recently it was the turn of Zara Philips, who finally got hitched to her rugby star husband Mike Tindall at the Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh over the weekend.

It was notable for the fact that it was Scotland's first royal wedding in almost 20 years.

Hundreds of people lined the streets to catch a glimpse of the bride who was positively glowing.

Her ivory silk and satin gown wedding dress was designed by Stewart Parvin.

Although not as big as Will and Kate's wedding, it was nevertheless a sumptuous affair, attended by the Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh and every other senior member of the royal family.

The post-wedding bash was said to have been quite a spectacular one with partygoers celebrating into the wee small hours of the morning.
