MargatePhotoFest returns for second outing

The MargatePhotoFest, which launched for the first time in 2010, is back again this year showcasing the latest offerings in contemporary photography.

This year's festival will see installations and exhibitions of the work of photographers like Peter Kennard, which sees him bring to life images out of his @earth photobook.

The Wandering Bears collective will be curating the images of emerging contemporary photographers, while Kevin Meredith will be giving an interesting talk about photography.

The theme of this year's festival is based around the idea of being "organic".

Organisers asked all those involved in the exhibition to respond to this idea and "make connections with the outside, exploring the structures of groups, the viral nature of the idea and the formation of grassroots culture".

Situated around various hotspots in Margate's old town, the exhibitions will be discoverable by the strategic placing of green balloons.

Last year saw exhibitions by Vinca Peterson, Ed Thompson and Jason Evans.

The festival runs from August 13th to August 14th.
