Liverpool's beauty showcased at photography event

The stunning scenery and architecture of Liverpool was on display at a photography competition in Merseyside last night.

The winning entrants in the Show Your Beautiful Face competition were unveiled at the event, including the overall grand prize winner The Venice of North Liverpool, which depicted the Leeds-Liverpool canal.

Judge photographer Mike McCartney, brother of Paul, said that choosing a winner from the 27 finalists had been a tricky task.

“I am asked to judge quite a few photography competitions and the standard in the ‘Show Your Beautiful Face’ competition was really high – the ideas and execution were excellent," he is quoted as saying by the Liverpool Daily Post.

For budding photographers on the lookout for new and interesting image subjects it can be easy to overlook their own hometown, city or village, however this could mean missing out on some great additions to your photobooks.
