Dog Photographer of the Year 2011 named

Amateur photographer Tina Williams from Wales has been named the Kennel Club's Dog Photographer of the Year 2011 for her inspired images of her Whippet.

The snapper was named both the overall winner and the Portrait winner for her innovative snap, which was praised for having a unique and elegant charm.

Commenting on her win, Tina said: “It is a brilliant feeling to be awarded Dog Photographer of the Year. I am looking forward to seeing the other images as I know competition was tough. All dogs are beautiful to me, which is why I love taking pictures of my dogs. Joey is obviously a brilliant model!”

Animal lovers who would like to create their own photobooks filled with snapped of their beloved canine companion may find that their own pooch is a more than willing model.

Take them out into the park or a stunning piece of countryside and snap them in action exploring the great outdoors or playing fetch.

Alternatively include them in family shots and shoot them playing with the kids in the garden or curled up on the sofa.
