Personalised gift company Moonpig in takeover approaches

Personalised gift and card company Moonpig has been approached by several companies expressing an interest in investing in stakes of the company or buying the whole group.

The company has been working with corporate finance boutique Ingenious Media since 2008, as it deals with several enquiries a week over the acquisition of all or part of the lucrative company, the Telegraph reported.

Moonpig, which has been valued at between £120 million and £140 million, is not being actively marketed to potential investors, but the approaches are being studied as they occur.

A person familiar with the situation told the newspaper: "Moonpig.com gets phone calls every couple of weeks from interested parties and Ingenious Media were appointed to deal with those approaches."

Moonpig was launched in July 2000, offering a way for people to create cards of their own design and featuring their own photos, which could be sent directly to the recipient.

It also offers personalised gifts, including mugs and t-shirts.
