Iranian photobooks show the human side of Holy Defence

Four new photobooks showing different sides of Holy War in Iran are to be launched at the 24th Tehran International Book Fair (TIBF).

Iran Book News Agency announced that the books, which have been produced by the Society of Holy Defence and Revolution Photographers, would be presented for the first time at the event, which will be held from Wednesday, May 4th, until Saturday, May 14th.

They are entitled Women in Holy Defence, Khoramshahr, Azure City and Martyrs, and they are all part of a series of books covering the war between Iran and Iraq.

The books feature captions in three languages – English, Persian and Arabic.

All the pictures have been published in conjunction with the Foundation for the Preservation of Relics and Values of the Holy Defence.

More than 100 photographers took part in the project to produce these books. Some of the photos are in colour and some are not.

Tensions between Iran and Iraq are still running high, following the war between the two countries which took place in the 1980s. It followed a long history of border disputes. Half a million people are believed to have died in the conflict.
