Waterford through a lens in new table photobook

Residents in Waterford in Ireland have been out and about with their cameras to capture the spirit of the area on camera for a new coffee table photobook.

More than 60 amateur photographers have contributed to the new book, which shows real life in and around Waterford, including the city, the coast and the rest of the county, as well as events and the people who live in the area.

The majority of images were selected from those submitted to the Picture the Experience competition run by Warterford City Council last year. Some of the area's more established snappers also made contributions to the book, Waterford Today reported.

Waterford mayor councillor Mary Roche presented each of the photographers with one of the books when they attended the launch this week.

She told the news provider that the book would be useful in selling the area.

Waterford is well known for its production of Waterford Crystal, however, production moved to Europe at the end of 2009.
