What is a mobile memory stick?
“Memory stick” is a term that may be used in reference to a number of products, including USB flash drives, USB sticks, thumb drives, flash drives and pen drives. While there are notable differences between some of these products, they are all used to expand a device’s storage capacity.Small and extremely portable, flash drive memory sticks connect to computers and other devices via USB. They can be used to store files and transfer them from one device to another - such as from a smartphone to a laptop.
What is the difference between a memory stick and a memory card?
Both memory sticks and memory cards are small, portable, durable, and useful for increasing a device’s storage, but they work in different ways.USB flash drives have USB connectivity and are equipped with flash memory technology. They can be connected to any other device with a USB port in order to store files, or to transfer them between devices. For instance, they can be used to move images and videos from a smartphone to a computer, therefore freeing up space on the phone.
Similar to flash drives, SD memory cards are also equipped with non-volatile memory, but they are typically used in a different manner. Memory cards are ideally suited to being a longer-term storage solution, as they can be slotted into a mobile device to expand its memory. However, they are less compatible than USB flash drives. For instance, not every laptop will be able to read every type of memory card, meaning a memory card reader will often be required.
